Healthy holiday hosting

Want to host a healthier holiday gathering and looking for inspiration? Offer your guests some fresh healthy options as a welcome change from rich and heavy festive meals. We propose three menus for the holidays, all from our recipe archives:

Around Christmas Healthier Brunch: when you are craving more fruits and veggies!

Hot mulled apple cider

Green Shakshuka with good bread: toast or warm buns

Mini potatoes roasted with olive oil and herbs

Cozy Soup and Salad Buffet, when friends drop in

Roasted bar nuts or Walnut pate with crackers

Lentil soup or Squash soup, or both!

Lamb kofta in lettuce wraps

A Special Sit-Down Dinner

To start: White bean dip with crudites and crackers

Main course: Pistachio crusted salmon

For dessert: Grilled or roasted fresh pineapple slices with cinnamon, and Cocoa date brownie balls

Whether you use one or two of these dishes on your holiday table, take one to a pot-luck or feed the whole family, your guests will appreciate not just how good they taste, but also how good they feel after.

If you haven’t signed up for our e-book you can download it here.

And don’t forget, for the heavier meals of the season, you can use bitters to help an overburdened tummy.

Happy Holidays from the SHINE doctors!
