Juice Fasting: feel lighter and brighter!


Summer is an excellent time to do a short juice fast. Juicing provides all the goodness and nutrition of fresh organic seasonal produce, and summer is a great time to lighten up and give our digestion a break. You can do a juice fast for a day, over a weekend, or even longer with supervision. In addition to fresh organic juices, we recommend drinking lots of water and focusing on a little more rest and relaxation during the fast. Here is our version of a day-long juice fast, that provides lots of variety of colours and plant-based nutrients. Take these juices about every four hours during your day, in the order presented. Try to consume a full glass of water between each juice serving. Green Juice 1 bunch of green: kale, chard, spinach or parsley Juice of ½ lemon 2 stalks of celery 6 inch chunk of cucumber Red Juice 1 beet 1-2 slices of fresh ginger 3 radishes 1 apple or pear 1 cup of blueberries Juice of ½ lemon Orange Juice 2 carrots 1 apple 1 peach or nectarine 1 orange 1 teaspoonful of turmeric powder or ¼” of the fresh root Chia Water 1 tablespoonful of chia seeds 2 cups of water Pinch of sea salt Juice of ½ lemon or lime You can add more ginger to any of these if you wish. Feeling wonderful at the end of day one? Do it again tomorrow!

It's best to use organic ingredients. Remember that while concentrating nutrients is good, concentrating pesticides is not; especially since you aren’t peeling the foods you are juicing.
